I have a 9 day luteal phase and would like to get pregnant so I started using a natural progesterone cream the 2nd week of my cycle. It made my temps increase so now I am wondering if I am going to ovulate at all this month since I don't believe that I have yet. I am wondering if I should have started after I ovulated and now am unsure of what to do - should I stop using it or keep it up until the end of this cycle? Does anyone have any advice as to what I should do or any other solutions to lengthen my short luteal phase to conceive? I appreciate any help out there.
thanks!I am wondering if anyone has experience with using natural progesterone cream to lengthen their Luteal Phase?
Hi
From what I've read, if one is TTC the progesterone cream (natural or synthetic) is most effective AFTER ovulation. Read this blurb:
';If a woman has had four or five miscarriages in the first six or eight weeks of a pregnancy, this is always due to luteal phase failure, says Dr. John Lee. Progesterone is needed to facilitate implantation and to prevent rejection of the developing embryo, but the follicle may not respond to the ovum with enough. Dr. Lee's recommendation: ';Wait till you ovulate, and then four to six days after possible conception do a blood test (for HCG) to see if you're pregnant. If you are, start the progesterone; that way you will increase you chance of having a healthy baby.'; Blood tests for pregnancy tend to be positive within seventy-two hours of conception, whereas he says urine pregnancy tests are not usually positive until two weeks after conception.';

And here is Dr. John Lee's website on the subject of natural progesterone: http://www.johnleemd.com/
If your period doesn't come, continue using the progesterone; but keep in mind that progesterone can delay menses. If your period does arrive, on your next cycle, start using the progesterone cream AFTER ovulation. If you are charting your basal body temp, you will know when you ovulate when you see a big spike in your temps.
Please touch base with a medical professional; although please be forewarned: most western doctors are skeptical of progesterone cream, even though IVF patients receive progesterone injections following the IVF procedure! So there must be SOME truth to progesterone helping our uterine lining!!!
All the best to youI am wondering if anyone has experience with using natural progesterone cream to lengthen their Luteal Phase?
I looked at one of these creams, I work at Rite-Aid and saw it on the shelf, I asked the pharmicist about it and she told me that it is mainly for menapausal women, so I would talk to your pharmicist or doctor before continueing on this.
Good Luck and baby dust!
Yeah, you should definitely not be using it before you ovulate. I'm not sure what you should do now that you already have. Check with your doctor.
